My Story
I was born in 1976 in Frauenfeld TG to Turkish immigrants.
After graduating from high school, I spent quite some time in the army. I became a first lieutenant in the artillery.
In 2002 I graduated in law at the University of Zurich. After completing an internship at a law firm in Zurich, I was admitted to the bar in the Canton of Zurich three years later.
I then worked for three years as a lawyer in a law firm in Vaduz FL. After this first professional experience, I decided to study abroad. So I went to Singapore, where I completed a Master of Laws in Corporate and Financial Services Law (LL.M. in Corporate & Financial Services Law) in 2009.
Since I was just familiar with the common law system, I then took several exams in London and was admitted as a Solicitor (England & Wales) in 2010. However, I have never practised as a Solicitor in England & Wales.
After completing my studies, I worked in the financial sector for three years. I worked as a senior legal counsel with the rank of director at a private bank in Zurich.
I realized relatively quickly that I was more interested in the traditional work of a lawyer than in a company. In 2013, I found a job as a lawyer in a law firm in Eastern Switzerland with offices in Weinfelden and Rickenbach b. Wil. After three years, I became a partner and then worked there in this role for another six years.
Because I found my calling in criminal law and at some point I was dealing almost exclusively with criminal cases, I decided to train as a specialist lawyer in criminal law. I completed this training in 2021.
Since 2024, I have been head of the criminal law division of the Thurgau Bar Association.
